Activity: RBK had a very successful trading year in 2019. Turnover increased in all service lines but particularly in Taxation, Advisory and Transaction Advisory Services. A number of our clients have been active in acquiring or disposing of businesses. Our FDI business has also increased particularly in the delivery of taxation solutions.
Clients: Having a robust and well thought out Strategic Plan is top of mind for our growth focussed clients. Our clients are constantly looking for more efficiencies, expanding and improving their service offerings which will help to give rewarding careers for their people and improve their bottom line. We are well positioned to assist them in this regard, with our broad expertise in diverse areas such as mentoring young talent and the provision of “best of class” Taxation, HR and Corporate Finance advisory services.
Taxation: We are quite concerned with the tax policies emanating from a number of the political parties. Ireland's Personal Tax rates already are at an extremely high level which are currently not attractive to Foreign Investors who wish to relocate their people here. If taxation rates are increased too much, there will be an outflow of capital resulting in lost employment opportunities and the nation would be poorer as a result.
Operations: It is an intensive, competitive environment to attract and retain the best and brightest talent. The ethos of the Firm is to have a good work-life balance and this has greatly assisted in attracting and retaining staff. Salaries have increased in line with the marketplace and this has a knock-on effect on fee levels.
Technology will continue to have a significant impact on the profession. It is important that we embrace up-to-date technology changes so that costs are minimised. Then we can offer smart and innovative business solutions for our clients.
